The Institute of the Americas has been a strategic partner of the EU-LAC Foundation (European Union- Latin America and the Caribbean) since 2011, leader of “intellectual exchanges on the dynamics of regional integration in a globalizing world”.
The Fondation Union européenne - Amérique-latine et Caraïbes (EU-LAC) was created by the VI Summit of Heads of State and Government in May 2010. Its objective is to consolidate the strategic association between the European Union- Latin America and the Caribbean in favoring and fostering dialogue, exchanges between the enterprise sector, the academic world, the civil society of the two regions.
The actions offered within the partnership between the IdA and the UE-ALC Foundation towards the “intellectual exchanges on the dynamics of regional integration in a globalizing world”, contributes to the analysis and the reinforcement of bi-regional relationships, to the Europeanization of French projects in the Latin American and Caribbean regions as well as to the development of university and research networks.
The Institute of the Americas also collaborates with the three other strategic partners of the UE-ALC Foundation on the following spheres of action:
- CEPALC (Commission économique pour l'Amérique latine et les Caraïbes): Investment, employment and income distribution
- FUNDGLOBE (Fondation globale démocratie et développement): Climate change and adjustment to climate change in the Caribbean region
- Région Lombardie: The association between small and medium-sized enterprises, with a particular approach on innovation, research and technology transfer
