Julie Agu (she/they) is a French PhD student who holds a joint BA in Anthropology and English Studies along with two Masters’ degrees in Cultural Studies from Aix-Marseille University (AMU). She was awarded an Institut des Amériques (IdA) doctoral program scholarship to work on Life Writing and Lesbian Metaphors in Late Twentieth and Early Twenty-first Century Queer Canadian and American Writing under the joint supervision of Nicolas Pierre Boileau (AMU) and Lianne Moyes (UdeM).

Her research interests include gender & sexuality theories, queer and trans feminist studies, fiction and nonfiction in Canadian and American contemporary literature, anthropology, psychoanalysis, and feminist literary studies. 

Since September 2023, Julie is the coordinator of the Canada Center for the Institut des Amériques, hosted by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and the Center for International Studies and Research (CÉRIUM) of the Université de Montréal (UdeM).
