Conférence dans le cadre du séminaire «Les autres lieux du politique dans les Amériques», organisé par le CECILLE, Université de Lille.

Join a hybrid talk with Luis E. Cárcamo-Huechante, professor Latin American and indigenous literatures, media and cultures at UT Austin.

Part of the CECILLE research unit's "Americas" annual seminar series, this event explores those marginal places where the political is produced and socialized: on the sidelines of institutional processes, where “Mapuche interferences” can be found.

Professor Cárcamo-Huechante’s research looks at indigenous aesthetics and politics, notably in the field of sound studies, and in the context of colonialism. He is a founding member of the Comunidad de Historia Mapuche (CHM), which is a collective of indigenous, Mapuche researchers based in Temuco, southern Chile. He is the co-editor of two collections of essays on colonial violence entitled Awükan ka kütrankan zugu Wajmapu meu: Violencias coloniales en Wajmapu (Ediciones Comunidad de Historia Mapuche, 2015); and also Ta iñ fijke xipa rakizuameluwün. Historia, colonialismo y resistencia desde el país Mapuche (Ediciones de Historia Mapuche, 2012).

This event is sponsored by Texas Global, the University of Lille and the Institut des Amériques, in an effort to support global learning spaces and scholarly conversations on research of the Americas.
